How to remove WebWarper from my computer?

First, if you want to view a site without WebWarper, you don't need to remove WebWarper. Please read the question "All sites are viewed via WebWarper on my computer. How to visit a site WITHOUT WebWarper?"

webwarper.exe utility, available for download on "Free Downloads" page, modifies Windows Registry to provide automatic viewing sites via WebWarper. Namely, this utility allows to enable "address autocorrection" mode that changes behaviour of Internet Explorer: the browser starts adding "http://webwarper.net/ww/~av/" prefix before any typed internet address.

Attention: removing webwarper.exe from your disk is not enough, if you want to restore the default browser behaviour and get rid of WebWarper.

There are two ways to completely get rid of WebWarper.

  1. The simplest way is downloading and running disableWW.reg file (less than 1 KB). This file restores default Internet Explorer behaviour by setting standard values of the corresponding keys in Windows Registry.

  2. Another way is running webwarper.exe utility (re-download it if necessary), choosing "Disable address autocorrection" mode and pressing OK. After this, you may remove the utility from the disk.

Please turn your mind! If you saved some WebWarper-optimized sites in the "Favorites", then these bookmark will open sites via WebWarper still. You may remove or edit such bookmarks. See the question "Are the sites, saved in "Favorites", viewed via WebWarper?" for more details.
