These Chair of Art and
Composition Training was set up in 1991 with the aim of providing general
artistic education to architects, designers and artists in paintings,
sculpture and composition.
The Chair has designed course programmes and has accumulated
collections of student works completed within relevant training
programmes. The staff of the Chair are engaged in research into
interaction between folk and professional art, viewing education as a
successive process and continuation of historic traditions in theory and
practice of contemporary art. These issues are covered within the
government funded programme “Folk Art in Russia”.
In addition to training and research the staff of the Chair are engaged
in art promotion work among children and young people through its art and
architecture training facility for children and preparatory courses. Works
by students of this facility are very successful at exhibitions of
children’s art. The staff of the Chair provide training to teachers of
art schools for children at workshops, round tables and discussions.
The staff of the Chair are highly qualified professionals. The head of
the Chair is Associate Professor N.P.Chuvargina. She was awarded a number
of prizes at national architectural competitions, a diploma of the
American Institute of Architects for participation in the exhibition
“Children’s Vision of Architecture”.
The Staff of the Chair are represented by eminent masters working in
various genres such as Professor N.V.Kostina, Honorary Artist of Russia
who is a master of the brush and whose works have been displayed in Russia
and abroad and can be seen in private collections in the USA, Israel,
Italy, etc. R.M.Fasikhova , member of the Union of Arts of Russia,
practises the art of handmade textiles. Her work “Attraction of the
Moon” was awarded a medal at a Russian exhibition in Moscow. Painted
textiles are made I.S.Zubova, E.S.Nikolayeva, O.V.Arapova, bright
individualities who are noticeable in the artistic life of Ekaterinburg.
The young talented painters V.V.Kostin and R.V.Barsukov are gaining
popularity with audiences.
The sculpture shop is represented by such people as G.A.Gevorkyan,
author of the monument to the composer Terteryan, the composition
“Crucifixion” in the centre of the city. Currently he is working on a
monument to A.Pushkin; V.S.Sokolova makes advanced works of art from
chamotte, clay, being the author of decorative sculptures used in the
interior design of public buildings.
The group of staff delivering the programme “Art composition” have
designed unique programmes and methods for training the fundamentals of
professional art to architects and designers. Such instructors as
T.A.Ushakova, Boitsov enjoy great respect among students and
professionals.
Recently the Chair has set up its own permanent gallery to display the
best works of art by students and teaching staff. |
