The Chair of Fundamentals of Architectural Design was
set up together with the Academy, being its leading training division.
The Chair was founded by Professor A.E.Korotkovsky. Today the Chair is
headed by Professor V.I.Iovlev. The staff of the Chair consists of 16
people including 3 professors, 8 associate professors, 9 “candidate’
degree holders. The Chair’s main areas of interest are basic
professional architectural training, research, and design.
The Chair provides training in a variety of
disciplines: Introduction to architectural design; Architectural design
of environment; Architectural composition; Architectural psychology;
Architectural ergonomics; Surveying and restoration of monuments of
architecture; Videomodelling; Geodesy; Compositional skills;
Fundamentals of pre-design analysis; Design graphics; Pre-admission art
and architecture training.
The Chair is a regular participant of international,
national, regional, city and other competitions.
More than 20 student designs of this Chair have been
awarded prizes and mentions at international and Russian competitions.
Design work at the Chair is associated with the
following lines: design of real and simulated projects for comprehensive
design projects including urban territories, small projects,
playgrounds, bust stop designs, kiosks, urban signs and monuments;
Design of residential and public buildings, cult buildings, including
stationary, “growing” and transformable structures (cottages, garden
houses, pavilions); Reconstruction and restoration projects involving
monuments of history and architecture including archival research,
surveying, certification, drawing and modelling, construction of copies
of models and archival drawings for museums and other organisations;
Design of interiors for residential and public buildings, graphics,
paintings, and works of applied art. |
