WebWarper / Main Features

WebWarper can save traffic in 10 and more times in super-dense mode

If you need maximal traffic saving and maximal access acceleration, and you are ready to sacrifice beautiful design of web sites, then you can use WebWarper super-dense mode WebWarper. You can switch to this mode by "Super-dense on / OFF" link at the top WebWarper control panel, or by the corresponding flag at the WebWarper home page.

Super-dense mode can be especially useful for the owners of mobile phones.

In the super-dense mode, WebWarper removes all graphics, scripts and other accessory elements from the pages, and also removs the HTML code necessary for web desing. The page appearance changes, sometimes significantly enough. But the textual information remains readable usually. If you don't wish to spend traffic and time for loading decorative items — for example, you are viewing sites on a small screen of mobile phone — please use WebWarper super-dense mode.

In combination with gzip compression, the super-dense mode reduces the volume of transferred textual data in 5-10 times. As all images, flash movies, ad banners, service scripts and other "unimportant" components are removed, so the overall saving is usually in 10 - 20 times and more.

Even if the site is using gzip compression itself — for example, Yahoo! — the overall saving is very significant. So, the compressed version of Yahoo! home page (in super-dense mode), at the moment of writing this text, has a volume 9 KB, and the original version — 52 KB. Saving in 5 times for the site which is already gzipped!

Besides additional compression, the super-dense mode also provides maximal antivirus protection, because WebWarper removes not only ActiveX and plagins, but all elements that can be potentially dangerous. In the usual mode, a complex advertisement block can "bypass" WebWarper, for example, by opening pop-up window which is not protected by WebWarper antivirus. Furthermore, sometimes viruses appear that infect a computer via JavaScript or Java (which should be theoretically impossible) by using bugs in the browser security system. Such a risk is almost excluded in the WebWarper super-dense mode: a compressed page doesn't contain anything besides absolutely "safe" static HTML code.

At last, the super-dense mode provides full anonymity, excepting a case of sending messages in forums, guest books and so on. See the question "The check shows that WebWarper does not provide anonymity. Why?" in this regard.

We also recommend to read the F.A.Q. "Compression in 10 times in super-dense mode is just an advertisement! Don't believe."
