Vladimir Chursin
The art of Vladimir Chursin is full of
happy feeling of poetic power over life in all its manifestations. Artist
replaces an immediate perception by the celebration sign, holiday play or play
at holiday, easily plunging a spectator into the element of dances, beauty
contests, resort pleasures, and famous Parisian variety shows... Desire to play
up with various historical masks leads to the appearance of Merylin Monroe,
Lubov Orlova, Rubens, Velaskes, Kustodiev, Pushkin, Evgraf Davidov in artist’s
creative work, who author treats with sympathy.
He offers his graphic versions of Danaya,
judgement of Paris, Ikar’s fall, Venus’ name day, which are mostly
paradoxical and ironical, to spectator... Ironical lyrics of masquerade’s
transformations is also felt in other favorite plot of the artist - naked model
where at one moment he is full of unreserved admiration, at another he lowers
the high style to the comic parody level, or drives the motive to state of
symbol in numerous «nu»...
